Dogwood Blossoms Bolero, #1Crochet project for 2010 (WIP)

I decided to crochet from a pattern. I draft the pattern based on the t-shirt which I borrowed from the lady for whom I am making this spring Bolero. It's going good so far. As you can see I'm starting from the front neckline. I made the motifs and connected them according to the shape of the pattern.
This is a challenge for me because I have tried to avoid making motifs due to the tediousness of having to finish ends of yarn for each motif. The only way for me to not get overwhelmed with so many loose ends is to finish and hide the yarn ends before I make another motif. At this point I have not decided whether to make the whole bodice of the bolero in motifs or just use the motif as trimmings. Find out on my next post.

Design work progresses slowly. Symmetry in crochet is tedious for me. I don't know if other garment crochet designers (experienced ones) find this to be so. My problem has to do with dealing with the directional orientation of crochet stitches. What I mean by this is that stitches lean to the left for right handed crocheter and lean to the right for left-handed crocheter. It affects the symmetry of a garment. and it is hard to do mirror image of left and right, without doing some corrective slight variation of the opposite panel of the garment. What I meant by this again is that the opposite panel does not have exact crochet stitches direction as the first panel. What I've read in some classic crochet pattern is that the designers don't write out the instructions for the opposite side. Multi-Colored Scarf

What is it about glitter that is so attractive especially to women?  And when the glitter is on yarn, it just sparks up the dormant creative energy that makes me want to crochet fabulous work.  I feel in love with this yarn from Lion Brand, called Bonbons "Party".  I feel like going to a party wearing a scarf made out of this.  Well the result of that impulse is shown in the above photos.  This is done in continues crochet using 3 balls of different color yarn.
