Happy New Year and Dogwood Blossoms!


Happy New year Everyone!

I'm starting the new year with an obsession. Dogwood Blossoms obsession! We are surrounded by Dogwood trees and in the Spring of the year, I always enjoy their white blossoms. They are a wonder to behold. At dusk or on cloudy day their white blossoms stand out. As part of my anticipation for the coming spring I'm crocheting a Dogwood Blossom Bolero for my DIL. The swatch shown is not actual part of the garment for there are lots of imperfection in it. I'm making the Bolero in white Caron yarn Simply Soft. I hope that I find the same shade of white for I need more than one skein for this project. I need to go to my LYS asap if I want this project completed as planned. I will post my progress, so please follow through with me. I have started on the front neckline and at this point I just lack one flower motif to complete front neckline of the bolero.

Design work progresses slowly. Symmetry in crochet is tedious for me. I don't know if other garment crochet designers (experienced ones) find this to be so. My problem has to do with dealing with the directional orientation of crochet stitches. What I mean by this is that stitches lean to the left for right handed crocheter and lean to the right for left-handed crocheter. It affects the symmetry of a garment. and it is hard to do mirror image of left and right, without doing some corrective slight variation of the opposite panel of the garment. What I meant by this again is that the opposite panel does not have exact crochet stitches direction as the first panel. What I've read in some classic crochet pattern is that the designers don't write out the instructions for the opposite side. Multi-Colored Scarf

What is it about glitter that is so attractive especially to women?  And when the glitter is on yarn, it just sparks up the dormant creative energy that makes me want to crochet fabulous work.  I feel in love with this yarn from Lion Brand, called Bonbons "Party".  I feel like going to a party wearing a scarf made out of this.  Well the result of that impulse is shown in the above photos.  This is done in continues crochet using 3 balls of different color yarn.
