Crochet Beading Demo


I'm learning as I go as far as blogging and all the other neat things that my laptop can do. After regretting that I cannot show a photo demo of the crochet beading process, I thought about the web cam that is built in on my laptop--is it not neat? It is so much easier than having to use my camera. The web cam pictures also upload 95% faster than pictures taken by my camera. I'm a right hand crocheter. My right hand manage the hook and my left manage the yarn. I use my left index finger here to also push the click button to take each photo while managing the tension of the yarn at the same time.
Step 1--Photo no. 1, above: Start of Ilb (Initial load bead) process; (This step is done after the coaster main motif is completed. See my post before this one, "Beaded Coasters Photo and Crochet Instructions". The hook is on the last slip stitch of the previous round). Withdraw hook from (slip stitch) loop

Step 2--Photo no.2, above: Pick up bead with the hook (loading the first bead on hook or Ilb)

Step 3-- Photo no.3, above: With bead on hook reinsert hook back on loop

Step 4--Photo no.4, above: Pull loop through bead

Step 5--Photo no.5, above: Yo (yarn over) after pulling loop through bead

Step 6--Photo no. 6, Above: Slip stitch on loop. Note: End of Ilb (initial load bead or crocheting first bead) process.

Step 7--Photo no. 7, above: (After slip stitch shown on photo 6), insert hook on next stitch to make sc next 2 stitches--(the sc process is not shown)


Step 8--Photo no. 8, above: Start of Lb (load bead) process. Note, this is done after sc next 2 stitches had been made). Pick up next bead with the hook as before and as shown on photo


Step 9--Photo no. 9, above: Insert hook through next stitch

Step 11--Photo no. 11, Above: Draw (pull) loop through next stitch


Step 12--Photo no.12, Above: Pull loop through bead

Step 13--Photo no. 13, Above: Pull through loop on hook

Step 14--Photo no. 14, Above: Yo (Yarn Over)


Step 15--Photo no. 15 Above: (after yo) getting ready to slip stitch.



Step 16--Above photo no. 16: Slip Stitch.
This is the end of LB (load bead) process. LB will be repeated all around the coaster motif.

Design work progresses slowly. Symmetry in crochet is tedious for me. I don't know if other garment crochet designers (experienced ones) find this to be so. My problem has to do with dealing with the directional orientation of crochet stitches. What I mean by this is that stitches lean to the left for right handed crocheter and lean to the right for left-handed crocheter. It affects the symmetry of a garment. and it is hard to do mirror image of left and right, without doing some corrective slight variation of the opposite panel of the garment. What I meant by this again is that the opposite panel does not have exact crochet stitches direction as the first panel. What I've read in some classic crochet pattern is that the designers don't write out the instructions for the opposite side. Of course, this was a long time ago, maybe designers today are writing out the instructions for both. Since most crocheters, myself included can only crochet either right-handed or ...

Multi-Colored Scarf

What is it about glitter that is so attractive especially to women?  And when the glitter is on yarn, it just sparks up the dormant creative energy that makes me want to crochet fabulous work.  I feel in love with this yarn from Lion Brand, called Bonbons "Party".  I feel like going to a party wearing a scarf made out of this.  Well the result of that impulse is shown in the above photos.  This is done in continues crochet using 3 balls of different color yarn.
